Well, I call myself normalgonewrong, why? well I think I have a normal life, house, child, hubby, job & car. Then one day I woke up and it had all gone wrong. SO WHY AM ON HERE BLOGGING, pre IVA; Five days after payday in March we had no money, everybody paid thanks to the bank overdraft, no money left on the overdraft limit and 22 days til payday again. Credit cards, three on the limit two didn’t know the pins for so used online and upto and over the limit. I cried then cried somemore, then cried harder then bought a chinese and a bottle wine on last credit card with funds available. Woke up in the middle of the night, put the light and told my husband (who no clue to our situation) we were moneyless. we lay there for a few hours then I cried some more. We went the CAB who told us they were snowed under with debt enquires but we could make an appointment to see a debt counsellor within weeks, 6 weeks we could be homeless by then, so camped out and were first in the queue at their open session, and managed to blag an appointment at the weekend. Have to say big thanks to the lovely lady at CAB who reassured us we could sort this out. CAB were fantastic, I cried my way through the interview, and I think the guy we saw thought we were joking when we showed him our own I&E. Where was the food, petrol allowance,do we have a paper ? where was the allowance. He advised to contact Payplan we made the call and never looked back. Payplan come up for some stick from other IVA forum users but I can only praise them, as with all big organisations right arm doesn’t talk to left. Debt Management was offered and also IVA, bankruptcy was offered but we wanted to keep our house. Debt management was a 25 year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! plan, IVA 5 -6 so we went IVA, a good penny in the pound was offered by us, I think it is important to remember that we wanted to pay back as much as we could, like most people in debt we just couldn’t get ourselves out. Initial enquiry in March, IVA approved 15th April, now due to make our 4th payment. Tesco Credit card wouldn’t play ball and continued to harass but our case officer has offered us support and dealt with this for us everytime I contacted them. So what has my life been like post, well we budget budget budget, life is hard, but we have food, petrol & a life again. If you are reading this blog and think like alot of people oh they spent now they want to run away from their debts, well thats your opinion and I can bet my last pound you have used credit today I haven’t. We are commited to paying our creditors as much as we can, so perhaps I am now normal trying to get right. Good luck to everyone on their debt journey.
